What you donate to us is 100% of your funds
because we paid the one-off set-up fee in 2017.

This means we receive everything you donate
plus if you are a UK taxpayer, confirm this in your donation
and we will get 25p on top in every £1.00 you donate.

This is through Virgin Money Giving
collecting this via Gift Aid from the Government.
This is unlike some other fundraising websites
which actually take from your donation for themselves.

Just as at Christmas an older person cherishes company,
especially if living on their own following bereavement
and family members moving away,
so is the need for their social isolation and consequent loneliness
to be combated the rest of the year
so as to prevent the on-set of depression
and less physical activity in losing the will to go out.

DAGE's befriending service provides otherwise detached older people
a centre they can come to on a daily basis for essential human contact,
and in so doing, affords them friendship and support
in claiming rightful entitlements and accessing preventative health measures
such as DAGE's regular summer outings.

"The greatest gift which any of us can give, is the gift of ourselves!"
to quote a newspaper article over the festive season.

It continues: "More than any bike or toy, gadget or jewellery, tinsel or tree,
the thing that can make Christmas memorable
is when we give who we are to those we care about.
It's a simple truth, but it's one that can be seen in the face of every child
who, once bored with their toy or game,
looks into the face of their parent and wants nothing more than to be loved."

Just as our older generation, our mums and dads,
appreciate being made a fuss of at Christmas,
they desire nothing more than to be loved throughout the year.

Simple gifts alone cannot achieve this!
They need that daily companionship that DAGE's befrienders,
the more recently retired, can give our otherwise
lonely and forgotten older citizens.

Like a pet is not just for Christmas,
so it is the case for our mums and dads who need
the daily gift of company.

in giving them a volunteer befriender
who can transform their lives from today,
from that of sitting at home, lonely and dejected,
to becoming an active, outgoing older person full of joy,
